HOLDING TANKS |silo|grain silos|storage silo steel|aluminum silo Non-hazardous, industrial wastewater holding tanks are stationary devices constructed of non-earthen materials that are used to accumulate and store non-hazardous, industrial wastewater. These holding tanks do not discharge wastewater to surface or ground water or onto the surface of the ground, but are designed and constructed to facilitate collection of the wastewater for ultimate disposal at another site.Holding tanks are available in many different shapes, sizes and materials. Holding tanks ranging in size from 1,000 gallons to 2,000 gallons are most common, however, tanks can be as large as 10,000 gallons. While holding tanks are not recommended for installation on newly developed lots, there are some developed lots which do not have adequate area for a sewage treatment system. Holding tanks are constructed of the same materials and by the same procedures as septic tanks. Holding tanks may be allowed by the local unit of government as replacements for existing failing systems which pose an imminent threat to public health and safety, or on existing lots. For small boats there is an increased demand for flexible holding tanks, they can be easily installed in small spaces difficult to access. Regular pumping of holding tanks comes at a cost.
